Ask Emma H: Do I Really Love my Makeup Tools?

 mume brush cleanser valentines advice!!

Dear Emma H: I want to have a loving bond with my makeup brushes and sponges, but I don’t know how to. When I first bought them from the store, I loved them with all my heart and used them every day. Nowadays, I feel like all my makeup tools are being neglected by me. They are always dirty, not sanitized, and are starting to look gross. I don’t want to be unfaithful and buy new ones because the tools I have now work just fine! and I don’t want to waste any more money. I love putting makeup on everyday and I can’t do it without my brushes and sponges. Please help me, what should I do?   -Merri

Dear Merri: Having a loving bond with your makeup tools is just like having a loving relationship with your partner: all you need is TLC (tender, love, and care). To have a long-lasting relationship with your brushes and sponges, you must learn how to take care of them. Brushes and sponges are a necessity for every beauty routine, but if you do not learn how to properly clean them, they become useless. Because brushes are expensive, you have to learn how to wash them properly or they will deteriorate. Most importantly, using dirty tools when applying makeup on your face can spread built up germs and bacteria. This can cause breakouts and unnecessary blemishes!!! I always tell people that clean makeup brushes=clearer skin and a smooth makeup application. It is important to establish a cleansing schedule for your brushes. I recommend washing them once a week and at nighttime, so you will have clean brushes or your morning routine. One of the brands I am absolutely in love with is MuMe!!! They have solid makeup brush cleansers that are made with locally sourced ingredients, vegan products, and are cruelty free. Their products are easy to use, can be refilled when finished, are super affordable, and leave your makeup tools feeling brand new and fresh. By washing your tools at least once a week, your brushes and sponges will last longer, you will achieve clearer skin, and most importantly you’ll have a smooth makeup application. It is a recipe for romance!!!!
