Ingredients (250g batch)
· 150g foaming melt & pour soap base (you can use any melt & pour base)
· 5g shea butter, gently melted
· 15g sweet almond oil
· 80g water or hydrosol
· Skin-safe mica powder (tiny pinch, optional)
· 10 – 15drops of essential oil (optional)
Method
1. Chop the melt and pour soap base, and shea butter, into smaller pieces and add to a heatproof bowl.
2. Place the bowl in a saucepan with an inch or so of water in it, like a double boiler, and put on a medium heat.
3. When the soap base and shea butter has fully melted add the almond oil and water/hydrosol and warm for a minute.
4. Remove the bowl from the heat.
5, Whip the mixture for 3–5 minutes until light and fluffy.
6, Add a small amount of mica and essential oils if using.
6. Whip again for 1–2 minutes until airy and smooth.
7. Spoon or pipe into clean, dry jars.
Storage & Use
Store in a cool, dry place. Shelf life is approximately 2 months. Avoid getting water into the jar. Use a small amount as a body wash, shaving cream, or gentle soap.
A note on the ingredients
The melt and pour base is a ready-made, mild cleanser that allows you to make body products without working with lye. Shea butter adds richness and helps the whipped soap hold its shape, while sweet almond oil softens the texture and adds slip. Mica is used purely for colour and should always be skin-safe.
